1001 BAY - 1001 BAY STThe exterior appearance of 1001 Bay condominium is unique because the developer (Strasscorp Holdings Inc.) and the architect (Okun Architects) used a clad fusion of marble & glass curtain to create a ‘special’ and strong shear wall structure that shimmers. 1001 Bay condo building was completed in 1989 standing at 36 storeys tall, encompassing 564 condo units and a handful of drinking and dining venues on the ground level for convenience. Tucked between St. Joseph Street and Bay Street (the Bay Street Corridor neighbourhood), 1001 Bay offers assorted sized suites (junior 1 bedrooms to 2 bedrooms + solariums) with the smallest suite being 497 square feet and the largest suite being 3201 square feet. One of the best features of these trendy-style designed suites are their solar-glare protected floor to ceiling windows. This condo building does not see a big turn over/resale of condo suites, but for the select few that have driven the historical average PSF, the resale projection has been consistently positive. The property management company that oversees the day to day operations of 1001 Bay is Brookfield Condominium Services. The in-building amenities that are available to buyers/residents to use are located on the second floor (Club 1001), a fully equipped and modern gym, spa, full indoor pool, racquetball court, basketball court, aerobics room and billiards & ping pong tables. The lobby of this condo has been designed to somewhat ‘extend’ the living spaces of buyers’ condo units, the lobby boasts a comfortable and quiet mezzanine seating area and a library, in which to entertain guests and even use for personal enjoyment. Other amenities that buyers can access is a spacious party room (80-person capacity, several seating’s areas & dance floor & audio/visual system or baby grand piano), guest suites, complimentary fitness & aquatic classes and 24-security officers.Walkers and cyclists love living at 1001 Bay condominium for all the accessible entertainment, shopping, dining out and greenspaces that are close by. Homebuyers and condo investors have Yonge Street handy for numerous nightlife venues, eateries, coffee shops and assorted stores at the Eaton Centre. Bloor Street has a ‘fashionable’ fusion of boutique shops, cafes and dinning options. Queen Street is abundant with entertainment and shopping opportunities. One of the best perks to living at 1001 Bay is…its closeness to the University of Toronto – St. George Campus (tree lined paths that offer 19th century architecture to gaze upon and a direct route to Queens Park for some downtime in beautiful greenspaces, cycle, jog, roller-blade or get in some reading time under a tree). Other parks within walking distance is James Canning Gardens, George Hislop Park, East of Bay Park & Breadalbane Park. There is a Bike Share Toronto just outside of 1001 Bay condo (bike lanes can be found on Church Street & Wellesley Street) and public transit users can pick up TTC with a short walk to Yonge-University subway station or a bus/streetcar on Yonge Street, Bay Street and College Street to get around the city. Drivers who wish to use their car as a means of transportation can pop onto the Gardiner Expressway by using York Street or, pick up the Don Valley Pkwy by using Danforth Avenue (another great shopping and dining out area!).
